Winnipeg is a vibrant community, represented by many different cultures and socioeconomic groups. Since moving to Winnipeg nearly 4 years ago, one of the things that has impressed me the most is how Winnipeg truly reflects Canadian Multiculturalism. It is only fitting that our city’s soccer club, Valour FC, will have a rich, diverse supporters section to match.
Recently some of our members reached out to express concern about a post made in our Facebook group by Route 60 Radicals. We love your passion and your protectiveness for Red River Rising, Valour’s first and original supporters group. We agree that the recruitment feel to the end of the post was not ideal. However, we chose to leave that post up and here is why.
We believe that the supporters section should truly represent this community. While Red River Rising will continue to represent broad support across the entire community, we welcome diverse groups to join us, bringing different cultural elements from the community to our section. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing – success for our club and to stand united For Valour.
We are working together and have big plans for next season. More information will come out in the Fall, but in the meantime, Red River Rising has a fun supporters event planned in partnership with Valour FC in September and we will invite Route 60 members to join us. We will email our members with details about this event soon so make sure we have your contact info!
In April we will be loud. There will be smoke. There will be Tifo. And Investors Group Field will be an intimidating place for every other team to play. This is all very exciting and we cannot wait for 2019.
