For months CanPL fans across the country have been eagerly awaiting news of the first player signings and yesterday, the league cleverly began building anticipation with several teasers.
Valour FC posted a letter and video from our first player, giving us a sneak peek at who it might be, and the speculation began with fervor. When Coach Rob Gale teased that he was giving us a ‘set-piece weapon” and we read that our player was ready to put it all out there on the pitch for us, we were hooked.
Now we know that our player, the first man committed to representing Valour, is Skylar Thomas and we wholeheartedly welcome him to this city!
Born in Scarborough, Thomas played soccer at Syracuse University for four years, before being drafted 11th overall by Toronto FC in 2015. The next four years were spent in the USL, playing for both Toronto FC II and Charleston Battery. With Thomas’ additional experience in the Canadian youth international system, he will be a strong anchor for Valour FC’s backline. We are so ready for the spring. Welcome to Winnipeg Skylar!
